GeckoPrint supports Special Olympics in Sydney

09-Jun-2009 On Friday the 12 June a lunch was held to support Special Olympics Australia.

Attended by over 600 people at the Sydney Conference Centre Darling Harbour the function was an enormous success and raised $120,000.

Special Olympics is a fantastic organisation to support and when asked to donate the printing of the program GeckoPrint was only too willing to get behind this worthy cause.

The time line was a challenge with the final draft for the programme being signed off at 12.pm on Wednesday. As well as the programme Geckoprint produced a promotional pack which included a small note pad with logos from each attending company and a sample of our products and a business card all contained in a cello bag.

In addition the first page of the note pad had each attendees name on the front page and was placed on the table and used as a place card.

The last list of attendees we received was at 12pm on the Thursday and we produced 625 packs and had them on each table by 11.30 the next day.

That was our Olympic size challenge.

Competition in all walks of life brings out the hidden inner strengths that often lie dormant until challenged.

Athletes that compete in the Special Olympics are no different than any other athlete.

They strive to do their very best and often achieve beyond their expectations.

This confidence in their sporting ability transcends into their daily lives and they grow as individuals allowing them the confidence to work side by side with their able bodied colleagues.

Meeting the Athletes and seeing their passion for their sport was an inspiration to all the guests at the lunch and we all went away with a different perspective on life.

It was a privilege as a company to be involved with the Special Olympics and we hope to support them in the future.
